About us
Philological Forum is a multifaceted initiative comprising the following components:
- The publication of the Philological Forum journal (2015 – ), together with its associated series: the International Philological Forum series (2017 – 2023); the Experior series (2022 – ); and the Event and Text series (2024 – ).
- The organisation of annual academic conferences for young scholars (undergraduate students, doctoral candidates, and postdoctoral researchers). Following a successful double-blind peer-review process, the presented papers are published in the aforementioned periodicals.
- Public activities under the concept FF Auditorium, including academic lectures, virtual presentations, and conversational meetings with poets and writers.
The initiative’s team consists of university lecturers and researchers (literary scholars and linguists) from Sofia University St Kliment Ohridski (Faculty of Slavic Studies; Faculty of Classical and Modern Philologies), the University of Vienna, and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

About the journal
The journal is interdisciplinary and features topical issues in line with the interests of young scholars. Each issue features several texts by established scholars that accompany those of their less experienced colleagues and are in line with the topic chosen. This allows young scholars the opportunity to publish alongside distinguished professionals.
The sections comprising scholarly texts are based on the topic around which an issue is organised. Hence, they differ with each issue. Other sections are standing. These include:
- Silent Echo;
- Where Do Bulgarian Studies Lie?;
- What We Read;
- It So Happened That…;
