International Philological Forum

The idea for the journal resulted from great interest in the International Philological Forum for BA, MA and PhD Students conducted in 2014, in which almost 250 young scholars participated. The idea was propounded by Assoc. Prof. Vladislav Milanov, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Veneta Savova, PhD and Senior Assist. Prof. Nadezhda Stoyanova, PhD. At the very outset, the team was joined by Senior Assist. Prof. Aglaya Mavrova, PhD and Senior Assist. Prof. Martin Stefanov, PhD.
Assoc. Prof. Vladislav Milanov, PhD participated in the preparation and subsequent publication of the first three issues of the journal. At the request of the remaining four members of the journal’s Editorial Board, Assoc. Prof. Vladislav Milanov, PhD abandoned all duties with respect to the journal on 5 January 2017.
The Editorial Board of the journal was approved at the Dean’s Council of January 2017 and comprised Assoc. Prof. Veneta Savova, PhD, Senior Assist. Prof. Nadezhda Stoyanova, PhD, Senior Assist. Prof. Aglaya Mavrova, PhD and Senior Assist. Prof. Martin Stefanov, PhD at the time. In the second half of 2017, the team was joined by Senior Assist. Prof. Teodora Tzankova, PhD (Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology, University of Sofia) and Senior Assist. Prof. Ivan Petrov, PhD (Plovdiv Medical University). As from Issue 2(4) of 2016, the following persons have served as assistant editors responsible for the preparation of each issue: Maria Ruseva, Kristiyan Yanev, Velimira Bozhilova, Borislava Ivanova, Georgi Georgiev, Nikolay Genov, Maria Marinova, Boris Iliev, Daniel Tomov, Radostina Petrova. Yoanna Tsekova and Vanesa Andonova among others have served as journal contributors. You can find more information about the current composition and organisation of the journal’s team of editors by visiting the Editors and Structure and Responsibilities submenus.

Focus

The journal is interdisciplinary and features topical issues in line with the interests of young scholars. Each issue features several texts by established scholars that accompany those of their less experienced colleagues and are in line with the topic chosen. This allows young scholars the opportunity to publish alongside distinguished professionals. To learn more about the focus of the journal, please visit the About the Journal menu.

Issues

The first two issues of the Philological Forum Journal were published in hardcopy. All subsequent issues have been born digital. Access to all issues is free of charge. To read through an issue, please visit the Issues menu.

Sections

The sections comprising scholarly texts are based on the topic around which an issue is organised. Hence, they differ with each issue. Other sections are standing. These include:

Epistolary Tales;
A Poetic Prologue;
Silent Echo;
Travelling Words;
Where Do Bulgarian Studies Lie?;
What We Read;
It So Happened That…;
A Wink and a Yawn.

Indexation

The Philological Forum Journal is indexed in a number of international databases. An up-to-date list of these can be found by visiting the Indexation submenu.
